Zaira Wasim considered as an upcoming Bollywood actress is of Kashmir origin and also a Muslim follower. She is best known for her works in Women-centric movies like Dangal and Secret Superstar. She’ll be next seen in “The Sky is Pink”. Zaira Wasim has not only been honoured with the prestigious award of National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement but also with a National Award for the best-supporting-actress and a Filmfare Awards.

Zaira is an eighteen-year-old actress who had debuted with the childhood version of Geeta Phogat. This biographical film came to be the highest-grossing film of the year. She had also received a number of awards for her performance. Her next film was Secret Superstar where she played the role of Insiya Malik. She once again caught the eyes of the critics and audience with her spectacular performance of a school going girl humiliated by her father who maintained the rules of Muslim dominant society; she took to save her mother from her atrocious father and as well as fulfill her dream as a singer.
Zaira became the target of many death threats due to her roles. Though other actors had stood up beside her, many critics had trolled her as been un-Islamic for her trimmed hair. But all did not end here, she went on to receive life-threatening messages when she was considered as a Kashmiri – role model by the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehboob Mufti.
Moreover, she lashed back at Vijay Goel who had promoted a picture referring to it as Muslim women breaking all the stereotypes. She went on tell him that women in hijab aren’t tortured or so but are free and beautiful.
Lastly, she had accused a man of harassing her in a flight which became a huge debate. Many questions were raised on both sides. Because where according to some the entire instance was a bluff and her reaction was overrated, many came to her support like the Mumbai Police. The latter stated that such cases should definitely be reported and also added that much evidence was found against the accused on the basis of which the arrested was made.
On the 30th of June, Zaira Wasim shocked the Bollywood with the News of her retirement from the same. She took on to the social media to announce this. She added that she took this decision because her profession was interfering with her religious beliefs. She wrote in her post that her line of work had affected her faith, her peace of mind and so. And that she has realized that this can’t be her profession.
Many politicians had considered looking into the matter whether she pressurized by anyone or any group. Many also consider this as a publicity stunt for her upcoming movie. And as a consequence, they have already decided to investigate the matter to find out the truth in it.
A number of celebrities have taken to show their support, dislike and be neutral in the social media. Celebrities like Raveena Tandon have slammed her by saying that she is not grateful to the industry. Tanushree Dutta highly appreciated her move and has supported her. Others have expressed their views that she shouldn’t have quitted since she was an eye-catching actor. Many have respected her decision and wished her good luck for future life. Lastly, there were a number of them who though had supported her decision as her personal matter didn’t like the fact that she related a religious ground to it. Obviously, it is her take but one can’t ignore some facets of her decision.
